The Middle GA Community Youth League was founded, in Macon, GA, fifty (50) years ago, by a small group of residents, lead by Jimmy Mills and Jessie Carter, local school teachers, who wanted to provide organized and supervised activities during out-of-school time. The Mission was to keep the kids off the streets and out of trouble. Other group members throughout the years included Connie Carter, David Lucas, James Timley.
Programs offered are: 1) MGCYL Youth Football League, MGCYL Cheerleading Program, Youth Development & Enrichment.
Kelvin Middleton, CEO, MGB Inc., a graduate of Southwest High School, and 2023 Macon Sports Hall of Fame Member, expresses his sincere gratitude to the founders and initial incorporators of MGCYL for the impact that they made in his life during his most vulnerable and formative years. Middleton states, “I was in Bibb County elementary school when Mr. Jimmy Mills, a school teacher, saw a crucial need for intervention to save the lives of vulnerable kids in Macon, in fact, he just said to “get them off the streets”. Mr. Mills and MGCYL saved many kids lives.” By volunteering with MGCYL at this event, Kelvin Middleton hopes this will encourage other men in the community to volunteer and be engaged. He also wants the local media to profile the positive things that MGCYL is doing in the community and we must pray for Peace in the streets.
